currently at a mining op in new eden, and i've noticed that there are tractor beams pulling containers full of loot and i said to myself:
"why dont we fit a dropship with this beam and pull up our guys out of harms way should the need arise"
so here is the idea, squadmate is flying a dropship, surveying the battlefield then his Sqd leader calls for a quick pickup. Pilot knows that there are a fair number of forge rounds flying everywhere and he'll have only seconds to make the pickup.
so he decided to simply hover a fair distance from the ground and activates the beam, the squad leader and whats left of his squad are suddenly lifted up off the ground and back up into the dropship. cargo secured, the pilot puts the afterburners on full blast and they fly to safety.
Restrictions: very high cooldown time, to prevent spamming the beam all over the place
squad based module, you need to lock on to the squad first in order to activate the beam
benefits: Rapid extraction
incentive to fly dropships for your squad
DAT SCENERY
anyways i've rambled long enough, there's the idea ,what do you think?

got off work today ( i work at a donut shop ) and flash of inspiration occured
Take reference to this photo here, it was my idea of it as a grenade: http://sadpanda.us/images/1827849-XRAQ4IF.jpg
Figure 1 is the picture of the grenade before priming
Figure 2 is the grendade ,primed and ready to throw
Figure 3 is the throwing of the grenade
4 is the grenade detonating , propelling the two part of the TB grenade against opposite ends of the wall
5 is a trigger wire or trip wire connecting the two of the halves together.
6-8 show what would happen if anything trips the wire, the halves activate a tractor beam, pulling the target back in the middle of both devices for a certain amount of time.
Better Explanation of a DS version of the tractor beam idea. http://sadpanda.us/images/1827852-56SII3R.jpg
1. squad is pinned down, requests for an emergency pick up,
2. dropship arrives and targets the remnants of the squad, lock on time varies between other versions of the T.B, as well as how many people you can target.
3. Dropship is finished with lock on, Squad is "Pulled" up towards the dropship,
4. Dropship pulls away from harm, enemy is alone >:]
any more thoughts?
EDIT: i've had some problem with this site as i was uploading it. please be patient and reload a few times for the pictures to appear. if not, let me know and i'll re-upload |
